Today, during a surprise Nintendo Direct, a new Chibi-Robo title was announced! Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash! Unlike the traditional Chibi-Robo title, this one will be a side-scroller and feature action in addition to the quirky puzzles our friendly robo gets into! Chibi-Robo uses his plug as a whip to attack enemies as well as to reach places he could no get to before. Charging his plug increases its power and length in which it extends. Check out the trailer!
As mentioned, an amiibo compatible with the game is to be released exclusively as a bundle with the launch of this game. We currently know this amiibo can transform Chibo-Robo into Super Chibi-Robo and can be leveled up as well as unlock in-game collectible items.
Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash will be released on the Nintendo 3DS system this October! Come back for more info, here on RL, when its released!
Young Horses took to the PlayStation Blog today to announce that their game Octodad: Dadliest Catch will land on PlayStation Vita on May 26th.
The game itself will remain mostly the same as versions on other platforms, but with a few added features. Most notably is the addition of cross-buy, meaning those who have already purchased the game on PlayStation 4 will have access to the Vita version for free. Sadly cross-saves are not supporting, meaning you’ll have to gain all your progress the hard way.
To soften the blow of no cross-platform-saves, a whole new set of trophies have been added to the game and you can work towards that final trophy alone of with a friend using the new co-op mode on one Vita system.
Vita owners can pick up Octodad: Dadliest Catch next week, from May 26th.
Yooka-Laylee, a 3D platformer which has seen massive success on Kickstarter, has introduced a new character who will support you along your way. The shorts-wearing serpent Trowzer will offer to teach you moves between calls on his outdated cellphone (look… it doesn’t even have a touch screen!).
He’ll take your money and count it (he’s an Adder…) and because he knows best he’ll even demonstrate the moves you just bought for you to replicate… if you can follow his jiggling. – Gavin Price, Yooka-Laylee’s Creative Lead
It may be a stretch, but the character could be inspired by Death of a Salesman protagonist William “Willy” Loman; both seem to have had little success in the business world and both have names that are, ahem, slang for penis (willy, trouser snake).
What do you think? Certainly a clever way to dress a snake!
Looking back at Nintendo’s console game launches of 2014 it’s clear they were all missing something huge: memes. Where was a playable troll-face in Super Smash Bros.? Why was longcat not a racer in Super Mario Kart 8?
Luckily in December of last year gamers got their fix just before the end of the year in the form of Meme Run, an infinite-runner populated with non-stop memes and Internet jokes. People less interested in playing a dissection of postmodern online culture were less kind to the title, calling it “worst releases on any gaming platform this year” (NintendoLife).
Unfortunately, as of March 3 2015, the game is no longer listed on the Wii U eShop for sale. Nintendo has yet to clarify the title’s removal, and whether or not it will be back, but it is certainly a blow for the gaming community as a whole.
The game was developed by Jordan Schuetz through his company Ninja Pig Studios along with his 15 year old brother. He described his thoughts while creating the game as well, “For this particular game, it took so little time to make and it was meant to be bad. […] It was a game to troll people and to do something outrageous that people would just be like ‘are you serious?'”
What do you think? Do you feel like an eyesore is finally gone from the eShop or did we lose one of the genius hits of 2014?
Trine has incorporated a theme of 3 from the get-go, forcing players to navigate levels while controlling one of three characters, and now the series will have its third installment. Trine 3: Artifacts of Power has been announced for a 2015 release in a brand new trailer which you can watch below.
